Welcome!

Bumps~n~Roo was created 2 years ago out of a love for sewing. My little business has grown since then to include boutique clothing, monograms, appliques, bows, and so much more! Feel free to contact me with anything you may be interested in and I will try my hardest to make your dream a reality! :)

Mister

I have recently fallen in love with the word "mister." Why you may ask? Because of these 2 super fun designs by Embroitique. She is amazing and almost every design I have by her stitches out like a dream. So the first one I did was this one.....

How fun is that? You can almost see a chunky monkey cheeked little guy sporting that with a grumpy look on his face. And I LOVE the argyle. But I love argyle anyway and this was a fun way to incorperate it! The next one was this shirt....
PERFECT for the man of your house! This would be so cute for pics of 2 brothers! And again, the argyle. I know, I know. It really pops on the blue though, don't you think? This shirt will be featured this week in a blog review for Houghton Happenings (http://jandshoughton.blogspot.com/). You could have a chance to win it or the bird dress I posted under it!

Lovebirds Pillowcase Dress

Earlier this week I was browsing my local fabric store...aka my crack house...and THIS stopped me dead in my tracks.....

How freaking cute is this fabric?!? All I could think of was the numerous possibilities for the spring for Roo. Peasants dresses, twirl skirts, ect. Then....like the ladies knew where I would look next because of my love for argyle....I found this on the shelf underneath....
Perfect accent for a fun Bumps~n~Roo dress don't you think....
My machine finally came back healthy to me this week, so I have been buzzing through orders. I had one in particular I had been thinking about for awhile because it was for a blogger who wanted to review my clothing and do a giveaway. Everytime I had been ready to make an outfit for her, my machine broke. So last night, while drooling over what to do with this fabric, I came across an applique I bought from Applique Market (http://www.appliquemarket.com/item.php?item_id=466) and it clicked. I decided to make a simple pillowcase dress with the lovebird applique and monogram it. The result was this.....
Probably my new favorite dress. Yes, I say this about most dresses I make, but seriously you can't get much cuter! I am making Roo one tomorrow with a pair of appliqued jeans to match. Or maybe a pair of ruffle pants. Who knows. The possibilities are endless....

Chances

Recently, I have been making bows to match my outfits and now I am lucky enough to have them in a local store also. Bumps plays football and he also wrestles, so naturally I had to make Roo bows to wear to the games/matches to cheer him on. We have a really big tournament coming up here, so I decided to take a chance and ask if I could have permission to sell team bows at the tournament and give some of the profit to the team. I am so excited to say that he said yes! While this may not sound like a big deal, it is to me. 600 kids come in to wrestle at this tournament and, with that, their families and siblings. So now the work begins to figure out what teams are going to be there and how much I need to make!!! I took a chance and it turned out well for a change!

Inspiration

What inspires me? I can't tell you how many times a week I get asked this question. And it is a very good, very valid question. Anyone who knows my outfits knows one main thing....I like crazy. I like loud. I like bold. I like this picture of Roo modeling my "I Believe in you Mr. Grinch" outfit that I made for this last holiday season. And she rocked that outfit btw! Robert Kaufmann was amazing enough to come out with this grinch line of fabric for the holidays and I was frothing at the mouth to use it. The top I applique'd with a simple applique that says "I Believe" from planetapplique. The top is made from the Olivia Pattern by Pink Fig. If you don't have any of her patterns...Run and go buy them! They are fan.tas.tic and the stitch out amazing. I made her ruffle pants and we added grinch green fur around the bottom. All it takes to inspire me is a fabulous line of fabrics like this for me to just run and go with it. Soon I will post of pictures of products in progress! As soon as my machine is out of the shop. Please God let it come home to me soon!!!!

Blessed

I have been told by numerous people I need to start blogging about my business....so here I go. Since it won't let change my about me at the present moment I will just tell you about my business. I started sewing 2 years ago after having our daughter. I am self taught except for the class I had in Jr High with Mrs. Vandergrift, who I credit this day to my love of sewing along with my mom. Last year I was blessed enough to get a machine that has the ability to monogram and applique also and business has blown up since them. Again...blessed. I started making bows to match my outfits and now that has taken off also. Another blessing. My amazing husband is a pilot in the AF and has done 9 deployments in the last 6 years. By doing all this...it has allowed me to stay home and raise our children the best way I know how...with a love of family, a love of the military, a love of sewing and creativity, a love of canning, a love of the world that is growing around them, and to know they are very blessed to have 2 parents that love them more than anything and 2 men in heaven that love them more than anything. So that is a little about my world. I will be posting new items, past items, ideas, ect on here. If you have something you are interested in, shout it out and I will try to create it for you. I live to make people happy!!! :)) Did I mention I am blessed?
